District initiative of Y-CHANGE project was conducted by the whole DS divisions of Ampara district on 20th March 2023.
DISTRICT INITIATIVE PROGRAMME
Peace walk was organized by District youth forum which established by Peace and Community Action (PCA) with the participation of Coordinators from Divisional youth forum and Government officials in District Secretariat, Ampara . The event was held on 20.03.23 in Ampara. Over 300 youths were participated. The peace march was started in two end points. one occasion begun from brown Junction in Ampara. second peace procession was underway from Ampara town and stickers were pasted for giving awareness to the community in a sustainable way. The walk came to end at District secretariat office. The evening programme was held in the meeting hall at District secretariat office where a media conference, handing over ceremony and cultural exposing programmes were held. Here, the coordinators from District youth forum were handed over the document as youth voice to Mr.Wimansa Seneviratne, Assistant District Secretary which having the details on divisional conflict issues against social cohesion and prevention of violent extremism and gathered them from the divisional dialog sharing. In a way they demonstrated their stand to the community and government actors by empowering project of Y-Change, PCA. Mr. T.Thayaparan (National Director of PCA) became as chaired to the event. Ms.Sureka Edirisinghe(District Women Development Officer), Mr. IL.Irfan (NGO coordinator), Mr. F. Piratheeskaran (District Integration Officer) and journalists were participated.
